Gugulethu-Sofia Mbatha or Gugu Mbatha Raw is an actress from Britain who has gained notoriety for her part in the television show 'Doctor Who.' She played the role of the sister to a main character known as Martha Jones. Handler grew up in a household comprised of six children. Her mother worked at home while her father was a dealer of used vehicles. Her mother arrived in America in the year 1958 after emigrating from Germany. After more than ten years combating breast cancer, Handler died in 1989. Handler was educated in Reform Judaism by her father and grandfather, who were Jewish. Handler was blessed with a joyful and healthy childhood living in a posh neighborhood. When she was 19, she made the move into Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in acting. Handler employed as an actor to earn a living for herself. Handler aged at the age of 21 was able to concentrate on stand-up comedy full time when she discovered her story telling skills. Handler's first job was as an actress in the cast that included all females in the Oxygen channel's reality TV show Girls who behave poorly. The show was comprised of cameras hidden in the background and humorous comedy. The series ran from 2002 until 2005.
